The China-America Festival of Film and Culture (CAAFC) is looking for short films that explore themes of diversity, humanity, and cross-cultural understanding. CAFFC is sponsored by The Rose Group whose mission is to promote better understanding and goodwill between the United States and China through media exchanges.
The top three winners of the competition will receive a cash award of $500, in addition to travel to Beijing, China to participate in the prestigious Beijing Student Film Festival. Airfare, accommodations, food, domestic transportation, and sightseeing trips are included.
The entries must be 30 minutes or less in length, and can be submitted on DVD or VHS in NTSC format. All submissions must have been completed in 2004 or 2005 and must either be in English or have English subtitles. Judging will be on the basis of technical skill, creativity, and insight into the subject. Three top winners will be selected. Other winning categories are Runners-Up and Honorable Mention.
Entry forms will be accepted anytime between now and February 11, 2006 and winners will be announced in March 2006. Registration information, rules, and regulations can be found on this website.
