The Rose Group is an organic body of people who share the conviction as well as the passion to foster better understanding and goodwill between the United States and China through media presentation and exchange. This Group was envisioned by Rose Nan-Ping Chen after September 11, 2001 and started to take shape the following year in December. Since then, many people have helped to define its mission, develop its agenda, and contribute to its growth.
It is time to celebrate our shared humanity as well as our diverse faces, voices, and points of view. We look forward to exploring mutual interests and opportunities with others to carry forth this important and timely mission.
Since inception, we have initiated and facilitate exchange programs between the top journalism schools in the United States and China (See About Us), launched a short film competition (CAFFC) and led a six-member American delegation for a successful film exchange program in Beijing and Shanghai. As part of the bilateral exchange, we are bringing Chinese films, filmmakers and scholars to the United States for a comprehensive look at China through films and other cultural events. The China-America Festival of Film and Culture 2005 was a huge success, we
are in the process of planning for a similar event on September 28-October
1, 2006 at Richmond, Virginia.
